You have to feel for this horse. Itโs been through the ringer - public triumph, public disgrace, drug abuse - but now itโs all over.

When you hear someone has both moral AND ethical reasons, some smoke is being blown your way. Why canโt the reasons just be moral? Or simply ethical? Putting the both together cancels out whatever reasons weโre there in the first place.
Wish he were coming my way on this first leg. Would very much like to see the Rough & Rowdy ways songs in a live setting.
As a former campus minister, I am familiar with the sheer volume of STUFF and FREE items and things and offers that get thrown at college students. Things get lost in the shuffle.
And my alma mater, the University of Iowa, is (hilariously) offering vaccinated students a $10 gift card to shop in downtown Iowa City. Where the only thing thatโs $10 is a salad or 3 cups of coffee. Which, honestly, would have been enough for me in the year of our LORD 2000. But maybe not sufficient today.
This is just wild to me. Rekindles your wonder about the weirdness of the natural world.
How can I explain this to my daughter? That, on occasion, people drug horses so they can run faster. Not because the horse needs to or cares - simply for profit and glory.

To be sure, there is a lot of churn in human social networks even in the best of times. Several studies show we replace as much as half of our social network every five to seven years. Little wonder when research also shows only half of our friendships are mutual. That is, only half of those who we think are our friends feel the same way about us. It just normally takes us a while to figure that out.
The notion that only half of what I consider to be friendships are mutually considered as such rings true to me.
Many people feel it's the right and correct and proper way to live to own a dog. Many believe that cats are the one true path along the pet ownership journey.
Only one of these is backed up by history. And it isn't the Meow that echoed through humanity's early days. Unless it was stalking prey.
If your brain itches when it wanders toward all the potential threats lurking out there in the universe, itโs good news when one single threat can be taken off the board.
My current favorite radio station is a Japanese community radio station that plays mostly jazz. Kamakura FM. The Internet can be a good place.
